G.W. Long shines en route to program's 14th baseball state title

Montgomery, Ala. (WTVY) After a three year drought -- an eternity by Skipperville standards -- the AHSAA 2A state title in baseball with return to the revered hallways of G.W. Long High School.


Collin Searcy threw a no-hitter and the Rebel bats hung 8 runs on the board to sweep Fayetteville 8-0, giving the program their 14th satte title and first since 2013.

"God it's hard when these kids have to leave -- that's what's hard, when they got to leave -- I hate this part," said an emotional Drew Miller, G.W. Long's head coach. "These are really good, very special men. I've watched them grow since they were young so that's what makes this hard. that's why you get emotional."
