Early County High School honored United States Army 1st Lieutenant and Blufton, Georgia resident Weston C. Lee who died in April defending our country in Iraq.
Lee's family members were named honorary team captains for Early County's season-opening game against Eufaula.
The US Army performed a helicopter flyover before the players took the field. Once the Bobcats came out of the locker room, they were all sporting stickers on the back of their helmets with Lee's initials.
Lee is survived by his parents, Aldene and Eddie Lee who cherished this moment to remember their son in front of the early county community.
"If he was here tonight, he would be their number one fan," says Weston's mother Aldene. "We just have to sort of think that he does know and I ask everyone to remember our Army and other troops out there and support them because they are the ones who have given us the opportunity to have this."
Early County went on to put on a valiant effort against the ASWA ranked Eufaula Tigers. Bobcats lost 42-20.
