MARIANNA, Fla. (Chipola) — Chipola hosts the Beef O’Brady’s Classic, Dec. 16, 17, and 18 in the Milton Johnson Center.
The Lady Indians play one game against Harford, Friday, Dec. 16, at 5 p.m. Chipola’s men play Harford at 7 p.m., Dec. 16. The Indians also play Monroe, Saturday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. and Jefferson College, Sunday, Dec. 18 at 3 p.m.
In celebration of the season, admission to the Dec. 16-18 games is free with an unwrapped toy. Fans also will be treated to holiday performances on Friday by ‘A Time to Dance’ twirlers and majorettes from Marianna Middle School and Marianna High School.
The Chipola Indians (12-1) are the fourth-ranked team in the FCSAA State Poll and the number 23 team in the NJCAA National Poll.
Chipola scored a 69-51 win over Polk on Dec. 10. Carter Skaggs led Chipola with 15. Shamarkus Kennedy and Cedric Wright each scored 11 points.
The Indians beat Miami-Dade, 101-91, on Dec. 11. Eric Cobb led Chipola with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Yuat Alok had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Deyshawn Martin had 13 points. Jahshire Hardnett had 12 points. Skaggs added 11.
Chipola beat Florida Southwestern, 92-84, on Dec. 3. Jamall Gregory led with 23 points. Martin had 21 points and 11 rebounds. Cobb had 16 points. Wright added 13.
Chipola scored a 110-85 win over Miami-Dade on Dec. 2. Jahshire Hardnett led with 23 points. Wright had 18 points. Skaggs had 18. Eric Cobb had 14.
The Indians play Sheboyhgan UW and East Georgia, in Panama City, Dec. 29 and 30. Both Chipola teams open conference play Jan. 7 at Gulf Coast. Chipola’s first home conference games are Jan. 14 against Tallahassee.
The Lady Indians (11-0) are second in the FCSAA State Poll and the number 3 team in the NJCAA National Poll. Chipola beat Eastern Florida State 88-42 on Dec. 9. Danielle Garven and Raven Baker-Northcross each scored 17. Sydnee McDonald and Alex Obouh Feque scored 16 points apiece.
Chipola outlasted Central Georgia Tech 83-62 on Dec. 10. Garven led with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Baker-Northcross scored 17. Tiaera Philips had 16 points. McDonald added 12.
The Lady Indians picked up a pair of wins in the Florida Shootout on Dec. 2-3. Chipola beat Florida Southwestern, 84-53, on Dec. 2. Barbara Johnson led Chipola with 18. Baker-Northcross had 14. McDonald scored 11 points with 12 rebounds. Tiaera Phillips had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Chipola beat Central Florida, 75-43, on Dec. 3. Johnson led with 18 points. McDonald had 12 points. Danielle Garven had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Alex Obouh Feque had 14 points.
The Lady Indians play two games in Panama City, Dec. 14-15: Bossier Parish CC Dec. 14 at 5 p.m., and Arkansas Baptist, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. Chipola plays a pair of games Dec. 29-30 in Daytona Beach.
