ATHENS, GA (WTVY) The Bulldog football team practiced for two hours on Monday in full pads during their eighth consecutive fall camp session.
Georgia will continue its preseason practices on Tuesday and Wednesday. School for all UGA students begins on Thursday and the team will continue working out with a modified schedule.
“When school starts, there is not as much time in meetings for us and not as much time for us to be with the other guys,” said junior Jeb Blazevich. “So it’s even more important that we are making sure we are drinking enough to be hydrated and eating all of our meals. It’s not as easy when there’s not someone there all the time with a water bottle.”
Blazevich started 12 of 13 games during his sophomore campaign and finished with 15 catches for 144 yards and a touchdown. He and the other returning lettermen are trying to encourage the freshmen and newcomers to keep working hard all the way through preseason camp.
“This is usually the point where the young guys have an idea of a point that they think they can hit, and then they realize they can actually push themselves past that point,” Blazevich explained.
While he is not an underclassman, offensive lineman Tyler Catalina is new to the Bulldog program as he starts his graduate school year at Georgia after being a three-year starter at Rhode Island. Junior lineman Isaiah Wynn has been impressed with his new teammate during camp.
“Just like it would be for me if I was coming from that climate, the weather has been an adjustment for him but he has done great,” Wynn said. “He is asking questions, has been ready to learn and is going to be a great addition.”
