Akial Byers, a four-star defensive tackle from Fayetteville, Ark., has committed to Alabama while on a visit for camp.
Byers confirmed the news to AL.com in a text.
Byers is listed at 6-foot-4 and 275 pounds. He's ranked as the No. 13 defensive tackle nationally and No. 2 prospect in Arkansas.
Byers had 69 tackles, including 11 for loss and three sacks as a junior for Fayetteville High School. He has double-digit offers, including South Carolina, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Florida State.
Billy Napier and Karl Dunbar were Byers' primary recruiters from the Alabama coaching staff, according to his 247Sports profile. He also visited Alabama in early June.
The commitment is Alabama's 15th verbal for the class of 2017 and has the Crimson Tide ranked third in the 247Sports composite team rankings.
