Alabama State falls to Savannah State in women's basketball clash

SAVANNAH, Ga. – In a game where baskets were tough to come by, the Alabama State women’s basketball team fell at Savannah State 54-39 on Tuesday night at Tiger Arena.

Daniele Ewert led the Lady Hornets (0-3) with 11 points and Tatyana Calhoun added eight points and seven rebounds and a block.

Alabama State’s top scorer Britney Wright (entered averaging 20.0 points per game) was held just seven points on 1-of-7 shooting from the floor.

The Lady Hornets trailed by seven at the end of the third quarter, but were outscored 20-12 in the final quarter.

Kenyata Hendrix led the Tigers (2-1) with 17 points, two blocks and a steal while Tiyonda Davis added 11 points, nine rebounds, six blocks and four steals.

Alabama State continues their road swing on Thursday at Southern Mississippi at 6 p.m. before returning home to host Mobile on Friday at 8 p.m. from the Acadome.
