DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- If you don't feel like driving around Dothan, chances are there's a practical and affordable option.
In the heart of Dixie, Wiregrass Transit takes it to the streets.
Paula Snell owns Paula’s Place right across the street.
She's even taken a ride herself.
She says, "It is cheaper and wiser and safer to have a lot of options, and Dothan is growing so we need all types of transportation."
To take a ride, it's simple, you schedule 24 hours in advance, and just $2 will get you anywhere in Dothan and $5 will get you anywhere in Houston County.
It's so affordable because funding comes from AL-DOT, federal, city, and county government.
Jared Weed the Director of Transportation says, "It is very important for people to get back and forth, either for work, or doctor’s appointment or whatever."
Wiregrass Transit plans to grow because businesses can advertise on the sides of the buses.
There are 20 buses now and will add two more this fall.
To get a ride you can call 334-794-4093.
Rides are available Monday-Friday from 6:00am to 5:30pm.
