Dothan, AL (WTVY) Wiregrass leaders are presenting plans to bring the 21st century job market to the Wiregrass.
The goal of Wiregrass 2030 is to find ways to get ahead of the technology curb, create new jobs, recruit new companies, and train the local workforce for future jobs.
Organizers want to figure out ways for the next generation to be more successful and create higher paying jobs.
Houston County Commissioner, Brandon Shoupe says it’s important that the Wiregrass finds its place in a new, more automated job market.
“By starting things today and trying to maximize our place in the future, I think we’ll create a world that not only kids can come back to when they graduate from college, but they’ll want to come back to because there’s opportunity here. There’s opportunity for them to be somebody,” said Shoupe.
Houston County, City of Dothan, Chamber of Commerce, and Wiregrass Foundation have teamed up to work on the project.
