Elba, AL (WTVY) - (Aug. 15, 2017) Ten days of online voting. That's all that separates Elba City Schools from a $25,000 grant to fund the establishment of an International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. Anyone with an Internet connection can vote up to ten times per day through August 25, 2017. Voting happens here: https://www.neighborhoodassist.com/entry/1998884

"We're this close to making this grant a reality," said Laurie Chapman, Executive Director of Restoration 154. "We have a one-in-five shot of winning, and it's up to the Wiregrass to come together and make it happen."

With the help of Coffee County nonprofit Restoration 154, Elba City Schools has become one of 200 finalists for a State Farm Neighborhood Assist Grant. Of those finalists, 40 will receive $25,000 for their causes.

"We know our students in Elba are smart, and we know our teachers are talented," said Justin Maddox, Restoration 154 President. "With this grant, we'll give them the resources that will allow them to go to head-to-head with any student anywhere in the world."

International Baccalaureate (IB) is a challenging, multi-disciplinary educational program that gives motivated and gifted students anywhere in the world the tools they need to excel in university education and in the global marketplace of careers. Once schools complete the rigorous certification process authorizing them to teach IB, they become known as an IB World School. More on IB can be found here: http://www.ibo.org/benefits/.
