TROY.Ala (WTVY)- The students at Troy Thursday had one thing in common and that's their love for music.
More than one thousand high school students predominately from Alabama, Georgia, and Florida came together to compete for a spot in 1 of 4 bands cardinal, silver, bronze or gold.
The clinic gives students the opportunity to play with people they've never met before.
Students waited all morning in hallways for their shot in front of judges.
Auditions consisted of one prepared piece and a site reading.
Some Troy band members believe this is great for students to get valuable experience.
The students were selected after an application process and letter of recommendation from their band director.
Those selected, will practice all day Friday, preparing for Saturday’s big concert.
Students receiving music scholarships will be announced Saturday after the concert.
