TROY, AL (WTVY) Troy Athletics is proud to announce that over $4,000 has been donated to various cancer research organizations after last Saturday’s Play 4Kay game at Trojan Arena.

The largest donation, $2,500, was made to the Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama on behalf of Troy Athletics. Women’s basketball players Amanda Mendoza and Ashley Beverly Kelley shot 3-pointers at halftime of the men’s game, with $100 donated for every make in 60 seconds.

Troy women’s basketball sold pink T-shirts, took donations and held a silent auction that, all combined, raised $1,525 for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. There was also $100 donated to the Joy to Life Foundation on behalf of Montgomery Regional Airport as part of a half court shot competition.

The announcement of the donations comes just one day after it was announced that Troy was the winner of the Sun Belt's Community Service Initiative for the month of January.
