DOTHAN, Ala.-- Hundreds spent Sunday night praying at the Dothan Civic Center Wiregrass Area Will Graham Celebration Promotion Sunday. The night was set aside for churches to take a special Celebration offering and pray for the mission of the Celebration of Hope.
The Celebration will be held at the Dothan Civic Center the weekend of May 5.
"We believe that prayer is the most important thing we can do, it serves our greatest need in the preparation stage of the celebration", said Robert Tatum, the director for the Wiregrass Area Will Graham celebration.
People who attended, prayed and sang but also heard passages from the bible from community members including, Dr. Chuck Ledbetter, superintendent for Dothan City Schools, Delvick McKay of Greater Shiloh Baptist Church of Headland and Donny Herndon of Ridgecrest Christian School.
"We are two weeks away", said Tatum.
Tatum said Billy Graham, a renowned evangelist, visited the area in 1965 and now his grandson will come to the circle city May 5th.
"We're excited for an opportunity, for the community to come together and worship and in prayer", said Tatum.
The event in Dothan is part of Will Graham’s 2017 schedule which includes a Celebration in Indiana and outreaches in Mexico and Canada.
