The Alzheimer's Resource Center of Dothan hosted a kick-off luncheon at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center Wednesday afternoon to raise awareness for the walk.
The 24th annual 'A Walk to Remember' is on Saturday, October 1st. The resource center raised $103,000 at last year's walk and hopes to do the same this year. The center's executive director Kay Jones says the community plays a big part in the money the organization raises.
"We are 100% dependent on the community for funding," said Jones. "We raise about 90% of our funds through the walk every year."
This year's walk will be hosted at the Westgate Park in Dothan. Anyone who is interested in registering or donating can go to www.wesharethecare.org or call their office at (334) 702-2273 or (888) 702-8689.
