Temple Emanu El hosts annual art auction

DOTHAN, AL (WTVY) Dothan's Temple Emanu El hosted their 40th annual art auction this weekend, with a couple of goals in mind.

The auction brings out people looking for a little more culture in the Wiregrass than normal.

Tony Kenward, a Dothan resident says "It's great to get culture on a night out here in Alabama, and buy some pieces."

The synagogue is looking to raise money not just for local charities like the House of Ruth, but for the temple itself.

Georgia Solomon is a Co-Chairman of the Temple's Sisterhood who organized the art auction this year said "Our Sisterhood every year gives to local charities, and we also give to help to maintain our temple here."

Fundraisers like the art auction also go towards helping keep temple emanu el in shape as well.

The temple doesnt have many members, so they need all of the help they can get when it comes to raising money.

Steven Jacobson also helped to organize the art auction says "The membership isn't able to do that, so fundraising is our way of trying to help out, keep our building going, and trying to give back to the community as much as possible."

Temple Emanu El will also be using the money from the art auctions and all fundraisers to donate to 7 other charities in December.
