DOTHAN, AL (WTVY) Houston County residents will be getting some extra help with storm debris removal.
The Houston County Road & Bridge Department will offer free debris pick-up services beginning next week. Trucks plan to patrol neighborhoods directly impacted by Monday's storms. Homeowners may place trees and limbs by the road for removal. The free service will take place over the next two weeks.
"When storms come through, there are obviously a lot of limbs and trees that are knocked down through no fault of our citizens,” said Mark Culver, Houston County Commission Chairman. “They have to clean those up and put them out by the road. So we also try to help be waiving the fees for pickup."
The Houston County Commission will vote to approve the free storm debris pickup at next Monday’s regular session.
