COFFEE CO., Ala. (WTVY) — Jerry and Melinda Stinson operate their family 10-acre Christmas tree farm in the Jack Community of northern Coffee County. This weekend, they opened for their 33rd season.
They grow varieties like "Blue Ice", Carolina Sapphire, and Eastern Red Cedar. With only a handful of such farms left in the Wiregrass, its a year round effort. Heavy rains earlier this year led to a bountiful and healthy crop.
With many customers active military stationed at nearby Ft. Rucker, cutting down the Christmas tree takes on even more significance as a "family".
