Small town first responders received donations from Dothan Elks Lodge

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Small town first responders received donations from Dothan Elks Lodge.

Part of the Elks' creed is to give back to the community.

They received a grant from their national organization, and split the amount between the Webb Police Department and the Malvern Volunteer Fire Department.

Webb leaders used their portion to buy a computer to replace a 15-year-old one.

The town of Malvern purchased a generator and lights, with their donation.
Clifford W. Jarrett, President of Dothan Elks Lodge said, “As a retired law enforcement myself, I know when you get out there in the dark and you're trying to save lives and you're trying to render aid; the inability to see the dangers and the obstacles prevents a lot of these first responders from getting into where they need to be.
He says, “It causes them to injure themselves or to not be able to fulfill the duties and provide the services to the communities that they serve."

The grant was a total of $2,600.
