Significant flooding hits Central Alabama Wednesday

Vestavia Hills, Ala. (WVTM / NBC News Channel) -- There's flooding and then there's massive flooding. One city in Alabama dealt with the latter.

Wednesday, torrential rains moved through Jefferson and Shelby counties localized flooding causing a major issue. Crews had to conduct three water rescues in Vestavia Hills. A parking lot had water deep enough to nearly submerge several cars and SUVs. Courtesy: WVTM / NBC News Channel

Wednesday, torrential rains moved through Jefferson and Shelby counties localized flooding causing a major issue.

Crews had to conduct three water rescues in Vestavia Hills.

A parking lot had water deep enough to nearly submerge several cars and SUVs.

At least one was washed away landing nearly on top of another.
