Salvation Army gives people in need a hot Chirstmas Meal

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Five thousand families will enjoy a Christmas meal this year.

The Salvation Army was able to reach their holiday goal.

JROTC Hannah Parker says she knows what’s it like to not have the funds to afford food on Christmas and feels it’s her duty to help pack boxes for those in need.

Each box has more than twenty canned good items inside along with a meat and dessert.

Captain Chris Bryant says their goal is to give families a really good Christmas Day meal with also enough food to put some extra food in their cabinet.

None of this would be possible without the help of the Wiregrass Community, sponsors and area schools.

Being tight-knit is a basic premise of JROTC, and helping those in need is a lesson these cadets will think about for the rest of their lives.
