Rehobeth Elementary celebrates school report card

REHOBETH, AL (WTVY) -- Rehobeth Elementary School Teachers and PTO members celebrated the school's success Monday afternoon.

It was the only school in Houston County to receive an "A" on the new report card released by the Alabama Department of Education at the beginning of February.

Samantha Willis is a 2nd grade teacher at Rehobeth Elementary, and she offered ideas on what other schools in the county can do, to hopefully get an "A" on their next report card.

"We collaborate across grade levels so we talk to other grades to see what we need to improve on. So I talk to my 1st grade teachers about what they expect and my 3rd grade teachers what they expect. So I make sure I meet everyone's needs. We focus on each individual student, find out their weaknesses, their strengths and we go from there," said Willis.

Half the student population at Rehobeth Elementary is at the poverty line.

Only twenty-one other schools in that position scored an "A".
