Samson, AL (WTVY)-- A Samson couple faces charges after police say their infant daughter was left for hours outside in sizzling temperatures.

Samson Police Chief Jimmy Hill said Mason Johnson is charged with Aggravated Child Abuse and Possession of Marijuana. Wisper Smith is charged with Failing to Report a Missing Child.

Hill said Johnson left the child in a stroller for up to six hours with temperatures in the 90's.

After learning the child was missing, officers launched a search but say Johnson was uncooperative and found in possession of marijuana.

Smith, Hill said, didn't report her daughter was missing but is not charged with abusing the infant.

The young victim, in Department of Human Resources care, is hospitalized but Hill expects her to be released in the next couple of days and make a full recovery.

A mug shot of Smith wasn't immediately available.
