DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) — Plans are moving forward for a police and firefighter training facility in Dothan.
At Tuesday’s commission meeting, more than $18 million was approved to start construction.
This is a joint project with the city and the Wiregrass Foundation.
City Commissioner Beth Kenward says the training facility will be one of five in the country.
“You're going to be able to go out there and run some drills with our first responders. In addition to that, a lot of first responders in and around our country are going to utilize our facility,” added Kenward.
The training center is expected to be complete within the next 12-18 months.
