BALDWIN Co. (WTVY) A plane crash in Baldwin County killed two people Saturday morning, according to the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Baldwin County 911 operators received a call at approximately 10:15 a.m. Saturday of a possible plane crash in the Bon Secour area of Baldwin County, near Foley.

Foley police and fire departments arrived first at the scene to find a single-engine aircraft had crashed in a sod field near Craft Farms Road, west of Baldwin County Road 65.

Responders found two people in the aircraft who were pronounced dead on the scene. Their identities are not being released at this time, pending notification of their next of kin.

Deputies say witnesses told them the plane was attempting to pick up an advertising banner and got into distress and crashed "almost immediately."

The case is being investigated by the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, as well as the Baldwin County coroner, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
