COFFEE COUNTY, Ala. (WTVY) — There is an opportunity for free training for all faith-based organizations, volunteer organizations active in disaster (VOAD) or any one interest in this subject. The Coffee County EMA is offering the chance for local organizations to receive training. Please sign-up no later than October 3, 2017, as a minimum of 25 registrations must be received by this date to confirm the class will be held. This eight-hour management-level course covers emergency planning, and brings together emergency managers and first responders with faith-based community organization (FBCO) leaders in a shared learning environment. This course facilitates effective communication in order to develop comprehensive local emergency plans.
Topics covered include but are not limited to:
•the significant role FBCOs have played during and after majordisasters.
•understanding the responsibilities and authority of each level ofgovernment and non-governmental organizations as well as the fourphases of emergency management and other significant emergency-related terminology.
•the role leadership plays in FBCO preparedness, apply social networking techniques to prepare members for disaster, and completean emergency plan checklist that can be utilized by FBCOs duringthe planning process.
•the process for developing a local emergency plan, list the elementsof a comprehensive county emergency plan, and evaluate a plan for FBCO engagement.
