DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) — A big congratulations goes out to one Northview High School senior.
Joneisha Carmichael danced her way to the title of Distinguished Young Woman of Houston County.
The competition – formerly known as Junior Miss --- was held Saturday night at the Dothan Opera House. Twelve seniors from six area high schools competed in several skill-sets including fitness, poise, talent and scholastic achievement among others.
Mary Hinson Mims was named runner-up. Reese Lisenby took home third place.
"After high school, my dream college is the University of Southern California," said Carmichael. "But, I may just go with my heart and pursue my professional dance career as a dancer and audition for the New York City Rockettes."
Carmichael will go on to compete at the 2018 Distinguished Young Women of Alabama state program. That competition will be held in Montgomery, AL in January 2018.
