Caldwell County, North Carolina (CCSO / WCNC / NBC News Channel) -- The storm system formerly known as Nate spawned tornadoes in North Carolina late Sunday afternoon.

Tornadoes were reported in three different counties in the Western part of the state as Nate moved inland.

Dash cam video shows a funnel cloud dipping down from ominous clouds in Caldwell County.

The powerful storms caused heavy damage to homes and businesses.

Dozens of residents have been displaced as a result of extensive damage and many remain without power.
