(WTVY) Mystery author Sue Grafton has passed away.
She penned the "alphabet series" starting with "A is for Alibi" in 1982., creating a smart, independent, and tough private investigator in Kinsey Millhone.
Grafton told the seattle times earlier this year Millhone was her alter ego.
Grafton was 77. She'd battled cancer for 2 years.
She died yesterday in Santa Barbara, surrounded by her family.
Her latest book, "Y is for Yesterday" was published in August.
According to her daughter, that will be the last in the series.
