(NBC News Channel) - A new survey shows more Americans plan to cook meals at home this year.
Home cooked meals were more nutritious as well - with fewer carbohydrates and less sugar.
About 73% of adults currently make dinner at home at least four nights a week, and about a third are planning to cook at home more often this year.
That's according to a survey by online grocer Peapod.
Millennials lead the charge, with 50% saying they have intentions of making dinner at home more frequently in 2018.
What is motivating these home chefs?
72% say they want to cook to save money.
About half said they are motivated for health reasons, and 60% of parents say they want to use meals for quality family time.
