McDonald's competing in the popular fast food chicken market

(CBS MoneyWatch) -- McDonald's wants to take a bite out of the popular chicken market.

Coming off the company's best sales report in years, they have stopped serving poultry with antibiotics and have removed artificial preservatives from their McNuggets.

They've also rolled out southern style sandwiches and tenders, similar to what Chick-Fil-A offers.

Americans love their chicken! A recent survey found they ate nearly 92 pounds of it per person last year.
