LAGRANGE, Ga. (AL.com) -- A massive indoor water park located just across the Alabama/Georgia line will open May 31.
Great Wolf Lodge is opening in LaGrange, Ga., this spring. The 93,000-square foot indoor water park is located about an hour southwest of Atlanta and is roughly a 45-minute drive from the Auburn/Opelika area and a little more than a two-hour drive from Birmingham.
The park will feature waterslides, a giant tipping bucket, wave pool, lazy river and zero-depth entry water play area, all in an 84-degree temperature-controlled setting. There will also be a ropes course and climbing wall, family-sized bowling lanes and an arcade. The development includes 457 themed hotel suites and an on-site augmented reality game called MagiQuest.
The resort also has an outdoor pool with additional water attractions, as well as an adult-only area adjacent to the outdoor pool and private hot tub.
Indoor activities include ropes course, miniature golf, bowling, an arcade and a rock wall.
Great Wolf currently operates 15 resorts in the U.S., mainly in the Midwest. The Georgia development will be its first foray into the deep South, with other locations in North Carolina, Texas and Virginia.
