Kanagawa, Japan (CCTV / CBS Newspath) -- Glamping, or glamorous camping, has gained increasing popularity in Japan in recent years. Different from traditional camping, glamping provides a new style of camping experience which combines the luxuries of hotel accommodation and the adventure of tent-living.

Glamping resorts are usually located amidst natural surroundings, with every possible facility that one could expect available -- from household furniture such as bedding sets, to personalized services such as barbecue grill and deck chair. Travelers can enjoy local flavors in the cabin and enjoy the natural beauty at the balcony.

The one-night price in such a luxury tent is usually around 300 to 450 U.S. dollars, which is actually not that unacceptable to travelers as it is more or less the same as that of an average resort hotel in the country.

"I feel it really good. It's an enclosed room, with bed there. You see the facilities, the structure, it's just like at home. You don't have to bring barbecue facilities along with yourself. You can even hear the sound of sea (when you're eating)," said Ms Jin, a Chinese traveler to Japan.

According to data from the National Camping Association of Japan, the country saw a total of 8.3 million people going for camping last year, up 3.8 percent from a year earlier.

Some hotels have been attracted by the national fad of camping to build high-end camping resort in areas with spectacular views. By taking advantage of their industrial resources and past experience, the enterprises aim to standardize the management of camping facilities and provide services with higher quality for travelers.

"After we opened the luxury camping, a lot of customers have been attracted to come here. It meanwhile has raised people's spending in hotel's catering. They (the hotel and luxury camping) bring a positive impact on each other," said Takayuki, person in charge of the operation department at Kannonzaki Keikyu Hotel.
