DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) Reliving the heated debate over a 20th century criminal case.
Pen Strokes of Justice; Judge Horton and the Scottsboro Boys" will take place Sunday, July 30th from 3 to 4 p.m. The forum retells the case of nine black youths who were accused of raping two women in 1930 Alabama. Decatur Judge Horton overturned the jury's guilty verdict on the first defendant. In response he received over 700 emotional letters.
"He kept all of them in two lard buckets,” said Laura Stakelum, P.R. Director of Landmark Park. “So our speaker Rebekah Davis is going to let audience members read from the letters and she'll be presenting some of the letters."
