Ozark, Ala. (WTVY) - Ozark Police say a juvenile is charged with with making threats against Carroll High School late Monday night via the internet prompting stepped-up police patrols at the school. The child's name will not be released.
Police say they were made aware just before midnight about the threat against the school posted to Snapchat. A photo of the post has been shared dozens of times via social media. A family member tells WTVY the original post was a photo of a rifle with ammunition and the caption "Getting ready for school tomorrow," and someone else added the caption "Carol high better watch out for (name omitted) TMR."
Ozark police say the juvenile has been charged with "Terroristic Threats."
At a press conference Tuesday afternoon, the Ozark City Schools Superintendent Dr. Rick McInturf said, "Right now, this is all in the hands of the Ozark Police Department. Once that's finished, we will determine if additional punishment or additional layers of punishment are appropriate for this particular student and take appropriate action at that point."
