New GOP Tax Overhaul Bill could affect local non-profits in 2018

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Over the past few months, the Republicans' Tax Overhaul Bill has been making its way through Congress.

There are several aspects that affect non-profit organizations -- including changes in the tax-exempt treatment of interest income from certain bonds issued by nonprofits.

The Exchange Center, a local nonprofit, tells us they do not anticipate the bill to affect their donations, however it should definitely be a concern for bigger non-profit organizations who benefit primarily from taxes.
