DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Some students in the Wiregrass rely on the school they go to for their nutrition each day.
So where, or who, do they turn to during the summer?
Dothan City Schools, Dothan Leisure Services, and the United States Department of Agriculture partner for a summer food service program.
During that time, they feed around 600 students a day in Dothan City Schools throughout the summer months.
The purpose is to make sure these children are provided well-balanced meals when they're not in the classroom.
Parents can contact Leisure Services for more information on registering for the summer feeding program. The number is (334) 615-3700 and the address is 126 N. St. Andrews Street, Dothan, AL 36301.
