Fire fighters respond to fire on New Years Day

DOTHAN Ala. (WTVY)- Early Monday a house caught fire off Hodgesville Road in Houston County.
Volunteer firemen from 5 counties responded quickly.

Chief Stokes says, "the house was fully engulfed in flames, unfortunately the home owners had gone to Atlanta to the ball game so no one was at home. They were able to get one of the pets out of the yard but as you can see the house was a total lost. "

With the temperatures in the low 20’s the Salvation Army played a huge role by helping firefighters with hot drinks, snacks and breakfast sandwiches.

It’s early in the investigation so the exact cause of the fire is still not known.

As for the family they are staying with relatives in the meantime, as they deal with a devastating loss to start their new year.

They need the communities support during this rough time. Below is the link to their Go Fund Me page. http://www.gofundme.com/phillip-rood-fire-relief
