(WTVY) - People who sent money through Western Union only to find out later they had been scammed may be eligible for a refund.
Customers who lost money to a scammer by wiring money through Western Union between January 1, 2004 and January 19, 2017, can file to receive a refund. Fees paid to western union to send the money are not included in the refund.
The deadline to file a claim is May 31st. It may take up to a year to determine if you're eligible and process the claim.
Claims can be filed on the Federal Trade Commission's website. No mail claims will be accepted.
The FTC warns any written or phone requests related to the refunds are scams.
