ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) -- A Wiregrass Church is in their final preparations to "Feed 5,000".
Heritage United Methodist Church in Enterprise is hosting their annual "Feeding the Multitudes" event on Saturday.
The event is held to support families of 4 to 5 in the Enterprise community by supplying bags packed with foods such as vegetables, beans, pastas and soups.
The goal is to pack enough food supply to last the families at least 3 days, as well as provide them with the love and support they need to overcome difficult times.
"It's kinda like that TV commercial that's on occasionally that says.. you know they show the homeless that's being fed soup and stuff and a meal and then the next scene is where they say don't forget us.. the need is still there.. and so that's what we are hoping to do is to kinda fill in some of that need." -- Church Volunteer
Heritage Church is asking for foods such as rice, cornbread mix and canned fruits, etc. (A full list of foods located below)
In addition to Heritage, other churches (First United Methodist, First United Baptist, Contyline Baptist, Christ The King) and businesses in the Dale County community (Chopper's BBQ, Milky Moo's, Our Place Diner, etc) will be taking donations until the end of the day Friday, February 23.
