DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) — [UPDATE: 8/9/2017 at 4:29:53 PM]
Police say two men were fighting over a car.

It all happened around 9:30 AM Wednesday morning near the corner of the Montgomery Highway and the Ross Clark Circle.

Lieutenant Brian Smith says a passenger tried to force the driver out of a vehicle while traveling through the parking lot of the LaQuinta Inn.

Both men got out of the car and the driver fired a shot into the air.

The passenger ran away but was arrested a short time later. He's charged with robbery.

Police say they'll release more information later.

A man who may have been targeted in a Wednesday morning robbery apparently fired gunshots at the man who held him up in a busy shopping area of Dothan.

“Our first indication is that the victim may have been the person who fired the shots,” Police Chief Steve Parrish said.

Gunshots were reported in the area of La Quinta Inn and eyewitnesses said the man—the apparent robber---fired at ran to nearby Hobby Lobby. Police converged and arrested the man sought.

It's not immediately clear if anyone what struck by gunshots though there was no indication of serious injuries reported by police radio transmissions.

“Obviously, we are in the infancy stages of the investigation and it will take a while to determine the details of this case,” Parrish said.
