DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish is working with Dothan City Schools to lower threats of violent crimes.
Parrish spoke to the city's Board of Education Tuesday night in the wake of a threat to Dothan High School on February 16th.
A student reportedly threatened to shoot up the school and was charged with making a domestic terrorist threat. Investigators say another student reported the threat.
When asked, Parrish said "You can't make threats like that, and say you're joking around. We have to take each one of them seriously. And that's what we're gonna do. Tips reported to us will be anonymous in nature, as much as possible. But it's a serious problem."
Parrish says he plans to meet with the principals of the area's high schools Wednesday afternoon.
