DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce kicked off the year with a sexual harassment seminar.
Members discussed how to define it, investigate it and eliminate it.
A recent survey shows nearly half of women employed in the U.S. have experienced an unwelcome sexual advance or harassment at work.
Small business owners from all over the Wiregrass participated in the class with hopes of learning how to both deal with and properly understand sexual harassment in and around their workplace.
"Well obviously sexual harassment is a very hot topic right now and its becoming uh an issue that work places are going to have to grapple with. They cannot continue to bury their heads and hope it doesn't happen. This is becoming more and more of an issue that victims feel like there is no recourse.. and so we have to create work places that number 1 try to prevent it from happening and number two if it does.. provide them with tools on how to address it to make sure it doesn't happen again." -- Dan Sinas
