Paris, France (Reuters) - Disneyland Paris began the celebrations for its 25th anniversary on Saturday (March 25), as classic characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse danced and sang in front of visitors, with a grand parade to follow later in the day.
The popular Disneyland tourist resort located in Chessy, just outside Paris, opened its doors on April 12, 1992 for the first time. It welcomes thousands of children and adults each year.
According to Bob Chapek, the chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, the park in Paris generated nearly 70 billion euros over the past 25 years. Disneyland Paris, owned by Euro Disney, employs 15,000 cast members.
After recent attacks in France and the UK, security forces have been on high alert but visitors said they felt safe at the park.
