OZARK, Ala. (PR) — Dozens of residents and cancer survivors met on Monday, Nov. 6, as Dale County Relay for Life kicked off its annual campaign and Men in Pink Ceremony at the Dale County Ag Plex facility in Ozark.

Dale County Schools Superintendent Ben Baker was recognized as the 2018 Top Man in Pink for raising the most - more than $1,800 - for Dale County Relay for Life this year. In all, more than 20 community leaders and businessmen raised about $10,000 for the county's Relay for Life.

Several Relay for Life committee members and survivors spoke during the ceremony. Charlotte Brown, a breast cancer survivor who creates quilted supplies for cancer patients such as chemotherapy seatbelt ports and heart-shaped pillows through her organization, Hello Cure, encouraged attendees with her story of survival and strength.

Relay for Life is set for April 27 with the theme, 'Once Upon a Cure,' on the Carroll High School band field. A survivor dinner will be held April 21.

Several have already signed up this year to participate as a team with Relay for Life but there is plenty of room for more! By forming a team, you will have an opportunity to decorate a tent area during the relay, participate in games and contests, and, of course, raise money for Dale County Relay for Life.

If you are interested in having a team, join online at www.relayforlife.org/daleal. You may also visit Dale County Relay for Life on Facebook or contact Eva Syples at (334)790-7609.
