Wiregrass cotton growers learn new advancements for 2017

DOTHAN, Al (WTVY) - About 150 cotton growers gathered at the National Peanut Festival (NPF) fairgrounds on Friday, February 3rd.

The Annual Wiregrass Cotton Expo promotes new advancements in cotton growing. Some of the businesses there include Sun South, John Deer, Atlantic Southern and Ag Spray. They supply growers with new pesticides that are used in an economical and safe way.

After a great cotton season in 2016, spirits are high as prices have dropped and technology has improved.

"The cotton growers can get an idea of the latest technologies available,” explained Henry County extension coordinator Jimmy Jones. “We've got a lot of new things in agriculture just for cotton growers that we bring to this meeting."

The Alabama-Florida Peanut Trade Show will take place at the NPF fairgrounds on Thursday, February 9th.
