DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Last week we reported that the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hawk-Houston were shutting down. Now, there's been a change in plans.
The club will re-open as the "Hawk-Houston Youth Enrichment Center." The charter was revoked by the national organization after 53 years in operation.
Mayor Mark Saliba says he met with the executive director over the weekend about moving forward under the new name.
"It's a big part of our community and we need to make sure that it's going to continue to thrive,” Said Saliba. “I hope and encourage everyone to get out there and help them."
He also mentions the club is in need of volunteers and contributors. If you are interested, their number is (334) 792-4618.
