BLAKELY, Ga. (WTVY) - Blakely's new City Marshal is on the job.
City council members appointed James Copp to the post earlier in December.
He's the first to serve in a position that's been in the works for two years.
Copp says he'll work closely other agencies including fire, emergency medical services, and law enforcement.
James Copp, City Marshal for Blakely, GA says:
"To keep the overall cleanliness, taking down dilapidated structures, abating different problems that are inside of the city limits, so you know anything that encompasses public safety is what I like to get into."
Copp previously served as the assistant 911 director for Blakely.
