Andalusia Police Department receives Tasers

Andalusia, Ala. (WTVY) - This month, Andalusia police became the last law enforcement agency in Covington County to receive tasers.

Police Chief Paul Hudson says a state grant along with local business donations paid for eight of them.

Chief Hudson says the tasers have a proven record nationwide of defusing violent confrontations.

The electrical charge disables the suspect leading to his or her arrest and lessens the chance of having to use deadly force.
