Fire destroys 30A home, damages others

Just after 9 a.m. Monday, two young men say they were walking down 30A to get doughnuts, when they noticed the house on fire.

Porter Simpler and his friend Ford Cleveland said they immediately jumped into action.

Simpler told us he ran inside the house to get everyone out while Cleveland called 9-1-1.

Emergency officials confirmed everyone in the home got out safely. One person was transferred to the hospital. That person's injuries are unknown.

South Walton Fire Chief Talbert said when they arrived to the house it was fully involved and caused minor damages to a neighboring house.

He said the fire marshal will investigate, but said they suspect the fire could have been cause by a broken gas line.

Join us tonight to hear from Simpler and Cleveland.
