DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- The Houston County Sheriff's Office has 4 new deputies on patrol.

Four bloodhounds were donated by Find-M-Friends to be tracking dogs.

The Sheriff’s Office says they will have one patrol dog and one bloodhound on duty, 24/7. When people go missing, the dogs get to work.

Sgt. David Asbill tells us that people who wander usually don't stop until something makes them, so they could be going for miles. And, if we can respond faster, that could mean the difference between life and death."

The Sheriff’s Office is also giving away "Out of Harm’s Way" kits. They're free at the Sheriff’s office. Here's how they work. You put someone's scent in them and if they go missing, the police dog can get their scent and track them down.
