Ashton came to WTVY in September 2009.

Born and raised in southwest Georgia, Ashton Wright grew up watching WTVY News 4. Little did she know one day she would be behind the scenes of her local newscast.

Ashton came to WTVY in September 2009. A recent graduate of Troy University’s Hall School of Journalism, Ashton accepted a temporary producing position with News 4 This Morning. She was offered a full-time producing position in January 2010, which she readily accepted. Ashton went on to produce the morning show for another year, during which time she helped reformat the show twice.

In September 2010, Ashton moved into the evening producer position, taking on the 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. newscasts. She became the Senior Producer in June 2012, a position she still holds. Today, Ashton produces Live at Lunch and News 4 at 6:00. She’s responsible for every show that airs on WTVY and its substations, WRGX and the CW. Ashton was instrumental in launching Primetime News at 9:00 in 2012 and WRGX News at 5:30 in 2013.

Ashton graduated suma cum laude from Troy University in August 2009. She has a B.S. in Print Journalism and Spanish. While studying at Troy, Ashton was a member of the Palladium yearbook staff. She worked as the Editor in Chief her senior year, managed a staff of 24 students and monitored 18 scholarships. Ashton also was a member of the Advertising and Public Relations Society and helped coordinate the Hall School of Journalism’s J-Day for high school students.

Ashton’s love for journalism started in high school where she was a member of the Paw Print. She worked as the layout and design editor and news editor. It was there she learned the basic principles and techniques of journalism. Those lessons still follow her today.

On September 15, 2012, Ashton married the love of her life, Christopher. They have a beautiful daughter, Alexis, and one furbaby, Jackson.
